For the whole day today, my hands really did lots of talking (reads : working). Now my hands, especially the right one, are aching with pain. But despite the pain, I felt so satisfied as a lot of things were done today. And that makes me a very happy housewife.
My hands started the jobs right after Subuh prayer. First, I scrubbed my wall tiles around the stove area. I could not remember when was the last time I wiped the tiles clean. They became very oily and yellowish. I sprayed with the kitchen cleaner and scrubbed. I think I sprayed and scrubbed repeatedly about 3 times until I was satisfied. I could almost see myself on the reflection.
While sitting down, I folded a mountain of washed clothes which I dumped on the sofa last night. This is not my favourite chore. I don’t know why. I always prefer ironing to folding clothes. At last the whole sack of clothings had been folded. I had to forced myself up to put all those folded clothes to the respective cupboards. And I don”t like to do this too.
Next, I proceeded to scrubbed my master bedroom toilet. I did not use the long stick to brush my toilet, but instead I knelt down to scrub. Very tiring, but looking at a sparkling clean toilet, I felt so satisfied. My toilet looks exactly like after it was newly renovated. Okay, I exaggerated. It’s clean, but does not look new. 😀
By now, I could feel my hands started to ache. But I had to go on. My job was not done.
My next mission was to scrub my stove. I have no words to describe the condition of my stove. I think it’s worst than the hawker centre’s stove. Hey, I cook almost every day, hokay! I’m not ashamed to admit that I do not have a showroom kitchen. You know, the kind that you always find in a renovation shop. The kind that looks like there’s no activity in the kitchen. I frequent the kitchen more than I go to toilet. I should have practice the “clean-as-you-go” system, but knowing that I need to use the stove very often, I left my stove after cooking with minimal cleaning. So you can imagine the oil and grease the had thicken over the accumulated time.
Scrubbing the stove was not a easy job. It’s really really very tiring. I scrubbed my stove by dividing it to some parts. So I concentrated on one part at a time. The kitchen cleaner did not help much actually. I was told that using bicarbonate soda can help to remove the grease faster and easier. Yes it did! I think I spent about more than one hour just scrubbing the stove. The result, wow! I congratulated myself on my achievement. Now I have a spotless clean stove :D.
It was time to cook for iftar. Though my hands were aching already, people in the house have to eat right? I fried Hokkien Noodles and made some popiah. It might looked simple, but try doing all those with aching hands. I restrained myself from buying food for iftar. I believe that the satisfaction of cooking your own food is priceless. After folding all those popiah, I had Afrina to fry them. I feel so lucky to have a grown up daughter who can help me around. When she took over the kitchen, I rested for while.
I thought my hand could rest after all those scrubbing during the day. Since Hubby was still at work and we did not go to our usual mosque for our terawih, I decided to iron some clothes. When it’s time to ask the kids to wash up, pray and go to bed, I realized that I’d ironed three quarter load of clothings! I really wanted to finish the whole basket, but Affandy would not go to bed without me. So I stopped and put him to bed.
Now, my right hand till up to my shoulder feels so very the lenguh. Rasa macam nak putus pun ada. If only I have someone to massage my aching hand and shoulder. But I can only rely on my medicated balm to ease the pain.
And oh yes, InsyaAllah, for the very first time, I’ll be going to JB with two of my aunts by bus. Usually, my JB trips are always with Hubby either he drives or rides on motorcycle. This time, it’s like a girls ladies outing cum shopping trip. I have no idea what to shop or even I don’t know where my aunts will bring me. But that is not important. Hubby has given me the green light to go and he will look after the kids while I’m out.
Lambatnye nak besok….. 😀
